Our story

Movement is the key to a longer, happier life.

We believe that, and we built Klaen around it. Premium movement wear for women and men over 45, made to keep you going where you want to go, and doing what you want to do.

Why Klaen

Clothes for the people who kept moving

People over 45 are some of the most active customers there are. They walk, run, swim, lift and stretch, and they know what good kit feels like. Most activewear is still designed for someone half their age.

Klaen is for them. We choose the cuts, fabrics and colours for grown-up bodies and grown-up wardrobes, so a piece works in a class and for the rest of the day too.

Every brand is chasing 25. ‘Push it!’ ‘Do it!’ Go harder in the gym! Look younger, move younger, be younger. Really!?

Meanwhile the most dynamic, wealthiest demographic is the 45+ super consumer and we get ignored completely.

I founded Klaen because I wanted a brand that actually spoke to my age group: to our changing health routines, to bodies that have earned the right to be recognised with quality eco-friendly clothing, not neon leftovers. A brand that celebrates dynamism later in life instead of pretending it isn't happening.

It's our Klaen.

The clothes

Made a few pieces at a time

Klaen Movement Wear™ comes out in small capsules rather than one huge range. Making a few pieces at a time means we can get each one right, and we're not left with rails of stock nobody wanted.

Our garments are made in Portugal, then checked at Klaen HQ in Chipping Norton before they're sent out in recyclable Klaen boxes.

Your guardian of health

What comes next

The clothes come first. Behind them is the technology Klaen was founded on, and over the next few years we'll build it into what you wear.

Health monitoring

Sensors in our tops read your heart (ECG) and movement in real time. A small detachable module sends the data to an app on your phone. The technology is patented in the UK (GB2637839).

Energy harvesting

About half of people who buy a wearable give up on it because of charging. Our yarns turn body heat and movement into electrical power, so there's no battery to charge. They're woven into ordinary fabric and go in the washing machine like the rest of your kit.

Research and testing is supported by the University of Southampton.

The road ahead

Each step builds on the last

Selling the clothes builds the brand and pays for the sensors. The sensors then show what the technology can do.
